What Does Google Search Options Mean For Us?

Google Search Options may be new to a whole lot of folks (as a lot of people just miss it), but it marks a big change for all webmasters and online marketers. By introducing of Google Search Options, there are more ways to find information online. Google now allows you to go through videos, forums, and even reviews to find information that may be relevant to your search. You can also filter through the results by date. The reviews filter will essentially finds you what people are reviewing online. It’s not that complicated.

So now you know what you need to do to get ranked high on Google. You want to be involved on forums. You want to review products on a consistent basis. You want to make your own videos. Adding images and posting on a consistent basis is going to matter as well! And who can forget about the social media.

Timeline is essentially a time visualization tool that lets you find out who’s been talking about your keyword phrase in the past years. A cool way to do some trend analysis as well:

So what does this all mean for marketers? Search engine optimization is going to change forever in the next few years. You’ll have to be more involved and pursue a multi-channel content strategy to get the best from Google. Google will still find your web pages, but if you are not creating video or contributing on Twitter, Facebook, or Friendfeed, you are leaving traffic on the table. The jury’s still out on Google Search Options, but we can see where the industry’s going. The days of writing text and hoping for lots of traffic are finally over, and “content is King” is going to have a whole new meaning.
