Just when you think SEO is becoming too predictable, folks find new ways to build links and drive free traffic to websites. While everyone is talking about how SEOs are forgetting about Yahoo and MSN, in reality creative marketers are taking advantage of Twitter to drive thousand of eyeballs to their websites free of charge. Twitter gives a whole new meaning to getting free traffic to sites. There is really no title tag to optimize, and you can get away with a few things that normally you wouldn’t be able to with regular SEO.
Twitter is a networking service. The more people you know, the more power you have. If you keep providing value to your followers and build trust on Twitter, you can tap into the power of your network to get your content noticed and build links fast. Once you have written your content, you can share it with your followers and even ask them to re-tweet it for you. The next thing you know your content is spreading around the web like wild-fire. People put it on their blogs, post it to forums, share it with their followers on Twitter, and keep building links for you.
People keep underestimating the power of Twitter, but you really shouldn’t. It’s not like everyday that you can spread your content so fast without doing too much work. You do want to make sure that you provide value to the Twitter community. The better your content, the better chance you have of others doing your link-building for you. Who says content is not king anymore!
